Visa Info
Dear New International Student (NON European only)
To enter Spain as an international student at the Marbella Design Academy, you need a student visa. To make the process as easy as possible we have made a guide for you to follow and fulfill:
1. You have to have been accepted as a student at the State Recognised Marbella Design Academy.
2. You have to have become a fully registered student by paying your tuition fee for the entire Academic year. The Academy will issue and mail to you, by currier mail, a Document confirming this which you will have to give to the Spanish Embassy or Consulate together with the other requirements as listed below.
3. When you have become a fully registered student, you will have to contact the nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate to your hometown and schedule a meeting with them. It is best if you go there in person. (If this is not possible, you can send a person to whom you have given a notarized authorization).
4. When you attend the scheduled meeting at the date and time appointed you, you have to remember to bring all of the following (3 Copies of all documents):
A. The Document, in Spanish, from the Academy proving you are a registered student of a State Recognised Academy and that you have paid the tuition fee required.
B. The completed application form for Schengen Visa, which we have emailed you in the attached file named VISA.
C. Bring your Passport, original and copies. The passport must be valid for the intended period of your stay in Spain (meaning, it will not expire while you are here) and must have a blank page to affix the visa.
D. 4 recent standard photos passport size.
E. Health Insurance (original form): International insurance coverage for health and accident for the intended period of your stay in Spain. We suggest ADESLAS. No matter your age, sex or nationality they have two offers for our students:
- Basic Insurance + Dentist ensurance = 35,20Euros per month.
- Complete insurance + Dentist ensurance = 44,43Euros per month.

F. A bank account in Spain. The Academy recommends UNICAJA, phone: +34 952 77 3450 and ask for Adrian who speaks English. To open a bank account you have to email as scanned copies, the following to Adrian, asanchezb@unicaja.es :
1. A copy of your passport, first and second page.
2. The acceptance letter from the Academy.
3. Your name, address at home and the names of your father and your mother.
4. The name of the Bank and account number from where you will have funds transferred to your new Unicaja account. When Unicaja has received this information, they can open your bank account within a few days.
5. When you have been issued your new bank account you will have to transfer a certain amount to this account. Please ask the Embassy-Consulate for how much they require. Get a copy of the bank statement. This is sufficient proof for the amount in your account.
A. If you are having funds transferred on a monthly basis from your parents or other legal guardians, you will need a notarized letter from them assuming full financial responsibility. Suggested wording: "I hereby certify that I am the (father/mother/other) of (...), and that I will support him/her with a monthly allowance of at least x Euros while he/she is in Spain and that I am financially responsible for any emergency that may arise".
B. A clean police record.
C. A medical Certificate proving that you are in good heath.
D. Some Spanish Embassies or Consulates will demand that you show a signed rental contract for a furnished apartment/ house or a room in Spain. You will have to pay for the first month, beside a 1 months deposit. If you do not like the apartment then you only need to pay one months rent from you have canceled the Contract and you can stay during this month.
Best to contact the Embassy or Consulate nearest you for you to ask them directly. Ask them what their demands are for accommodation for you to obtain your student Visa. Some Embassies and Consulates accept a receipt for a room in a hostel for one to two weeks.
Please see the accommodation list included in this Visa file.
Please contact Karen for further information johnkarenbryn@yahoo.com or phone: +34 690 096 336.
There are plenty of apartments for rent in Monda. They are all furnished and they can be rented for a monthly rent a of around 200 Euros to 250 Euros for a room and 400 Euros to 500 Euros for a 3 room apartment.
The embassy or consulate will give you a 3 months visa. (Important: Make sure a 'D' is written on it, as this stands for student.)
With this Visa you will be able to enter Spain. Within your first month at the Academy, you and your fellow international students will have to go to the local police station in Marbella to finalize your papers. (Lorena, the secretary at the Academy will assist you with this upon arrival). Should you need any further help during this process, please contact us.
It is not as complicated as it sound. If you need help during the process then please do not hesitate to ask for our help.
Best regards The Administration
